Anno 1800 - A New Age for the Anno Series

The Anno series of games has been praised for its expansive worlds and in depth gameplay; blending strategic gameplay, diverse play styles and in depth stories. Anno 1800 is the latest game in the series and does its lineage proud.

What is Anno 1800?

As with previous games in the series, Anno 1800 is about building a society from the ground up. Planning out cities, creating trade routes, negotiating with other nations and fighting your opponents head on in strategic warfare. Unlike many other strategy games, the Anno series has a fully involved story that players follow throughout their playthrough. Anno 1800 takes the series to the 19th Century for the first time and gives players the opportunity to flex their strategic muscles in the burgeoning industrial age.

Enjoy Gothic designs with the Eldritch Pack

To embody the spirit of Halloween in this real-time strategy classic, Anno 1800 formally released the Eldritch Pack Cosmetic DLC, containing a lot of designs, content, and locations inspired by Gothic architecture. Starting with the Forgotten Abbey: a lost ruin filled with overgrowth, creating a classic yet unsettling feel. Additionally, players get to see new Gothic status, particularly gargoyles. You can now decorate your buildings with various imposing statues, such as the Statue of Lady Morningstar.

Certain buildings also get a makeover in this DLC. For example, the Worker and Artisan residents look as much as they do in the base version, except for the addition of ghosts roaming through their halls and windows. Additionally, the Hospital gets minor design tweaks that make it more imposing. Even new tree models help round up the new atmosphere this DLC is going for, making it a fun addition to any game.

Should you get Anno 1800?

For fans of the series this is an absolute must. The game brings back beloved features such as individual AI opponents and the ability to ship trade goods and also to play on randomised maps. If you prefer a more fast paced experience then this might not be for you, but there's a lot here for most gamers to love.
